Welcome, Canyon Lake Police Department

Canyon Lake welcomed its own Police Department in 2026—a new chapter for a city with a close-knit feel. Led by Chief Jim Rayls, the team now provides police service around the clock. Its stated approach puts community relationships, listening, and working with neighbors at the center of the job.

Here is a useful service to know about: residents and businesses can request extra patrol attention when a property will be unoccupied for an extended time. The city says officers make periodic checks when staff are available. It is one practical way this new department can get to know the place it serves.

Welcome to the neighborhood, CLPD. We look forward to seeing you become part of Canyon Lake’s everyday rhythm.
