Canyon Lake’s City Golf Championship: more than a weekend round
Two days on the course, a full scorecard and a local tournament tradition. Here’s a look at the championship and what to watch for next time.

A casual round is one thing. A championship weekend brings a different kind of energy to the same fairways: two days, a score to carry from hole to hole, and golfers measuring their game against a field. Canyon Lake’s City Golf Championship has been part of the community calendar for years, with the organizer setting the format and entry terms for each edition.
A tournament with a history here
The POA promoted the ninth annual championship in 2023. The organizer called the 2026 event its twelfth annual edition. It is an established local competition, with its own format and entry terms each year.
The 2023 promotion and the 2026 announcement both described two days of golf, a cart, Saturday lunch and prize money. For the next one, the current announcement will be the place to check the details and price.
How the 2026 adult competition worked
The adult field was announced as stroke play, organized into flights by handicap, with gross-score competition. In plain terms, the flights grouped players, but scores were counted without a handicap deduction. That distinction matters if you usually play net events.
The organizer also promoted a separate junior tournament. The junior competition had its own entry and tee-time details.
More than a tee time
For the 2026 adult event, entry covered two days of golf, cart fees, Saturday tournament lunch and prize money. The two adult prices depended on annual golf membership, not residency.
The adult field welcomed Canyon Lake residents and the public. The next edition’s announcement will give players its entry and arrival details.
Thinking about the next edition?
Keep an eye on the Country Club’s championship page for a new announcement. When it appears, look at the format, the flight and handicap requirements, what the entry includes, the deadline and any arrival instructions before registering. That leaves more time to enjoy the golf—and less scrambling before the first tee.
